Paris a mon couer

Paris a mon couer - Paris has my heart

When anyone asks me if I fancy going to Paris for the weekend I'm unlikely to ever say no - Paris is always a good idea.

I've been to Paris countless times and every time I go, it's a mixture of discovery at the same time as feeling like I'm home.

My husband was stuck for what to get me for my birthday this year. I'm one of those types, you know the ones who say "no I don't want anything, honestly, just a card and I'd be happy" all the while secretly wishing for a Chanel handbag or a trip to Paris. Well, this year he did not disappoint!

2 weeks ago, he came into the front room and said, "do you fancy going to Paris for your birthday?" "OF  COURSE" I squealed without the slightest hint of modesty.

He has found some seats on the Eurostar using a sister company called EurostarSnap who sell the empty seats at lower prices to make the trains more economical to run - so we got 2 return tickets for £128 - so as if I could even say no to that!

Next we thought about where to stay. Every time I've been to Paris I've stayed in a hotel, and don't get me wrong, they're ok, from a 2* to a 5* but finding one in the area I like to stay in was difficult so I went on to Airbnb and found a lovely 2 bed apartment in exactly the location we wanted. Perfect!

I like to stay in an area near to the Rue de Rivoli in the 4th Arr. and the apartment we found was on Rue Saint-Antoine which leads into Rue de Rivoli. It's a mix of cafes, restaurants, shops, churches, bakeries... everything you could want on your doorstop plus was served by Bastille (direct metro line from Gare du Nord) and Saint-Paul. Couldn't have asked for better, plus it was a 10 minute walk to the river and Notre Dame - just ideal!!

Constantly checking the weather in the days before leaving allowed me to pack for warm days and evenings and the weather when we got there was just incredible - so warm, sunny with a cool breeze.

Strolling around Paris on my Love's arm, in the warm sunshine in May for my birthday was everything I hoped it would be.

May is a fantastic time to go to Paris as the locals leave and go on holiday, there aren't school holidays so it's relatively quiet enough to feel like you have Paris to yourself.

I can honestly say I've had one of my best birthdays ever... here's to dropping hints for a trip to Paris every year

If you've never been, go. If you've been before, go back. Paris, you have my heart
